MaDe was a famous pixel artist on the Amstrad CPC (and later on Amiga/PC too).

Active on the Amstrad CPC from 1988 to the mid-nineties, he is mostly known for his work in Disc Full (a french disc mag) as editor, designer and gfxman. He later founded Rebels, a CPC demogroup with some of the active Disc Full members (eg. Syde, Performer, Beast) and released some demos.

He finally joined Symbiosis (a demogroup with Prodatron, Alien and BSC. The elite german sceners back then). Unfortunately, this group is almost born dead and he didn't do anything significant for it (Prodatron was the only real active member but soon left for the Acorn computer after he released the Digital Orgasm demo). That's a shame, this demogroup could have seriously kicked ass! That's always when shit happens :)

It is well known (at least now) that most (read: not all) of his graphics are directly converted or very much inspired from Amiga graphics (mostly). And many people on CPC love so much bashing again and again about those damn lame evil transferts.

If you take the time to find the original Amiga graphics he used and compare them to their CPC version, then I can tell you that there's some serious hand-work to achieve such quality on CPC (and remember he did that in the early nineties!). So you can call me a fanboy (because yes, I am :), but I can also give you some of the original images he used and see how much better you can do with your modern PC tools (I tried, I failed. But I may be just lame :). There is however one annoying thing about his CPC graphics: he never credited the original artist. And -that- is lame (and also why I added the proper credit for all the Amiga pictures I know of in the images comment here). Ok Ok, I stop the rant :)
